The language of symbols is never straight-forward one since symbols
both hide and uncover the girl at the same time. Their explanation still
leaves open a back door – a possibility of some other interpretation based
on personal experience and perception of the viewer. znojemska uses
symbols in a very distinctive and inward way. The motives of Bedriska
znojemska’s work are rooted in Christian symbolism and are profound
message. On one hand, her paintings bring about uneasiness and are full
of pain, sadness, ruthlessness and crunchy of the world, on the other
hand, her pictures contain gentle lyrical undercurrents, poetic imagery
and symbolism of rebirth, life and hope.

znojemska has a wide range of techniques, she is a master of using
the brush and she knows her drawing, she is précis in construction and
sensible in using the paint. She applies the paint in thick layers using
impasto technique, making the texture of the brush clearly visible. Some
details are not painted but engraved in the paint layer. All this adds a new
level and originally to the painting. When using the paint, Bedriska knows
how to combine bright and dull colors well, the composition is never
aggressive nor tiring. The author also focuses on framing her work. Her
original frames are fully integrated in the painting and are a part of them.
znojemska shows the viewer a gate to another world; she offers a trip
to places mirroring the mystery of birth and death. It is up to us whether
we go on looking for these sacred symbols, ancient archetypes deep in
our subconscious, or whether we choose to keep out of this timeless
experience. The art of znojemska makes in clear to anybody that she does
not create pictures using only paint and brushes but most of all – her heart.
