The paintings of napoli artist Manuel Olivares possess a futuristic
quality impacted by rigorous interiors where furniture flows without
encumbrances and human bodies seem sculpted from light.
The contrast between the colors- the red, the blue, the dense yellow-
penetrates the volumes of the buildings and splashes through the
empty spaces, filling them up. The artist paints from offbeat points
of view, creating exotic perspectives from which the viewer can
observe from unconventional vantage points.
The buildings themselves seem to ground us with their dense and
substantial construction, unobstructed by decoration and reduced
to their purest form. (kris kline)
