I studied under Robert Barnes and Berry gealt at
Indiana University and work in a variety of styles
as fits the idea or depiction I try to represent or
communicate. Sometimes I’m not sure what I’m
painting. I have the picture in my mind before
i paint it and make adjustments. i most like
the work of Jasper Johns, mile Nolde, Rothko
and giacommetti and try to keep the painting
understandable and unified to the affixed idea in
particular or depiction or representation.
I have a fairly large collection of 20th-century
classical music and attempt to make my work
somewhat similar to that in tone and subject
matter in particular the works of Schoeke,
Schoenberg, Tsung and Feldman though that
changes. I have made stylistic changes as the
subject matter changes.
The color palette is small to keep the work
close to intent. Too many colors might alter
the depiction or stray from the idea, effect the
representation or add nonsense. Most of my
work is about places i have lived, seen or people
I’ve known or see. Some are tied to my political
activism. I try to keep the painting to a narrowly
defined space and focused only on the subject
matter.
I work with many democratic groups among
them, advisor to the Bangladeshi Pac, informal
advisor to the Palestinian committee, work
with the Washington office for Bosnia and Irish
Northern aid committee. I also work in democratic
politics, attend demonstrations.
