Filostrato
Filostrato is indeed portrayed as the most melancholic member
of the group. His name, meaning "frustrated love," reflects his
frequent focus on tales where love inevitably leads to sorrow and
disaster. It's important to note that his name is not directly related
to Boccaccio's poem "Il Filostrato," though the poem's somber
themes may have inspired Filostrato's characterization.
On Day Four of "The Decameron," Filostrato sets the theme, which
centers on the demise of romantic relationships. This theme aligns
with his predisposition toward tales of heartache and the often
tragic end of love affairs.

disaster.
