Aria komianou was born in Athens, greece in
1938. She has studied Printmaking, Art Book and
Typography with kostas grammatopoulos in the
Athens’ School of Fine Arts. She has graduated
in Printmaking with three honorary mentions and
two additional diplomas: Commendation in copper
engraving,Commendation in colour composition
for lithograph, Commendation in colour woodcut,
Diploma on Theory and History of Art, Diploma on
Typography and Art Book. Throughout her studies
she has been under scholarship granted by the greek
state. Aria has taught art in technical schools. She
published several articles on art and art techniques
in many technical and mainstream magazines in
greece. She has illustrated schoolbooks and literary
editions. Her works have regulary appeared as
covers on many magazines and books. Numerous
presentations and reviews on her works have
appeared in important art editions as well as in the
daily and monthly press. She has also participated
in several television shows, making presentations
on art in general and on the art of Printmaking in
particular. Aria komianou has been honored many
times with prizes and medals in greece and abroad,
in countries like Italy, France, Japan and Sweden.
Her works are to be found in the greek National
gallery and the gallery of Athens, as well as in
several banks and private collections in greece and
all over the world. She is a member of the greek
Chamber of Fine Arts, a founding member of the
greek Printmakers’ Association, a member of the
kiwa International Association of Printmakers in
kyoto, Japan and of the Art Addiction Medial Art
Association, in Stockholm, Sweden.
