rodugo, roberto Duarte gonzalez, is a surrealistic artist
who was born in Mexico City, in 1969. Currently, he resides
in Chicago, Il. Since his childhood he enjoyed every moment
drawing and sketching. During his studies at the Colegio de
Ciencias y Humanidades (CCH) in Mexico City (as a part of his
high-school education) in 1987-89 he wrongly attended Diseño
Ambiental (Environmental Design) class instead of Expresion
grafica (graphic Expression) class, but his instructor who was
teaching both classes helped him somehow with his artistic
development. Afterward, rodugo started painting in 1993
on his free time without any professional study, becoming
a passionate artist. However, rodugo started taking more
advanced painting classes at the Moraine valley Community
College's Fine and Performing Arts Center on Spring on
2008, in Palos Hills Illinois, as a part of his improvement
and considering the importance to be better as an artist
learning new techniques. rodugo also currently is a Chicago
Artist Coalition (CAC) member one of the most important art
organizations of Illinois and the USA.
From the beginning, his work has always contained a strong
surrealistic concept that it fulfills him to express his feelings
and the way hi pictures life without denying a great admiration
for Salvador Dali. However, rodugo defines his style as a
poet but rather then writing a poem on paper, he paints his
emotions with the brush on a canvas. With a very personal
style, he transmits and projects a great diversity of feelings
through which we all have felt in our lives such as love, hope,
sadness, frustration, temptation, sorrow, passion, bliss, etc.
Along with his life, the topics he shows in his art work also
evolve. In general, the topics are: the woman who is the muse
that inspires him to create, most of the time. Consequently,
he involves also life, religion and the materialism which are
part of our world as well. rodugo includes in his paintings
content full of symbolism such as the black and white path
in some of his paintings which means the path’s life; in life
time we live with joy and sadness, with a tear coming out
from our eyes and with a beautiful smile in our face. He also
includes flowers which he compares with “the woman.”
red roses mean the passion and love, but also compared to
women, they are gorgeous and dangerous; White lilies mean
peaceful, love, and tenderness.
