                                                                 in the Romantic era. Influenced by german Expressionists and by contem-
                                                                 porary artists such as Marlene Dumas and Michael Borremans she applies
                                                                 a powerful palette full of sensuous colors. She conceives the human face
                                                                 and body as a pretext in order to refer to difficult situations of life such as
                                                                 absence, loss, memory, death, alienation, threat, preoccupation of survival
                                                                 or impossibility and she insists, through her work, upon a decent purpose
                                                                 of human existence. vali up to now has participated at seven individual and
                                                                 four shared exhibitions in Brussels, Athens, New Delhi and New York. Articles
                                                                 in the newspapers have shown her work. Several of vali’s paintings belong
                                                                 to private collections in Europe and abroad.

       The human form and figure with it’s diversity of gestures and emotions is
       greek painter  vali  kolotourou’s primary subject and theme.  working on
       oil, linen and wood vali’s paintings express, through powerful colors, vivid
       emotions based upon daily life and existence. vali explores, in this sense,
       the internal density of human feelings and situations which may influence
       purpose of life and destination. Her work is an intimate study of silence and
       of human truth. vali paints between visual perception and concept. It is
       this concept which transforms her subjects-man, woman, crowd, group of
       people-into an object with existence of itself. Paintings are done after live
       model or photos found in newspapers or magazines. when painted all models
       lose their frame of reference and become products of artistic imagination.
