kim von Arx takes an expansive look at the
biosphere, - its forces and its vulnerability,
looking at the co-existence of a physical and
a super-sensual world. The images reflect
upon a continuous modification-process.

The Art Institute of Chicago. She was born

I mainly work with acrylic and pastel colors. My works are influenced
by the years I lived in Mexico and my attraction to the ethnic issue. My
paintings stress the question of my dual identity, Israeli Mexican, and my
own personal identity as a woman: once strong and surviving, and once
sensitive and ordinary. The color, the movement and the compositions,
sometimes contradictory, give expression to the power and force of
the painting. My portraits seek to express human qualities with faces
of women mostly rude and dark with a view to an insightful beauty.
