                            kim von Arx takes an expansive look at the
                            biosphere, - its forces and its vulnerability,
                            looking at the co-existence of a physical and
                            a super-sensual world. The images reflect
                            upon a continuous modification-process.
                            kim has a multicultural background, and
                            completed her Bachelor of Fine  Arts at
                            The Art Institute of Chicago. She was born
                            in Switzerland, but she now lives and
                            works in Oslo, Norway. However she still
                            participates in projects and  exhibits  her
                            works internationally.

                                                                 I mainly work with acrylic and pastel colors. My works are influenced
                                                                 by the years I lived in Mexico and my attraction to the ethnic issue. My
                                                                 paintings stress the question of my dual identity, Israeli Mexican, and my
                                                                 own personal identity as a woman: once strong and surviving, and once
                                                                 sensitive and ordinary. The color, the movement and the compositions,
                                                                 sometimes contradictory, give expression to the power and force of
                                                                 the painting. My portraits seek to express human qualities with faces
                                                                 of women mostly rude and dark with a view to an insightful beauty.
