Celina Clavijo has a connection to Japan, which is intimate and familiar. This contact has signified changes
for her but not abandonment of methodical rigidity. To the traditional formal and mental discipline of artis-
tic production, she has added a sense of free interpretation of aesthetic sensibility and the development of
process. The frozen instant, a reinstitution of imperturbable contemplation of an object, when eye and mind
become one, is tantamount to Clavijo’s method of work. Her norm speaks of the Japanese influence and exclu-
des uncontrolled impulses and the more visceral spontaneity that so often overcomes the nature of western
people. But together with the traditional discipline, there is a vibrancy in her art that helps to make her work
more comprehensible. The impenetrability of her particular way of working with color and express tendencies
of drawing, albeit controlled, reveals a combination of artistic languages that do not oppose each other but
complement. (PedrO ALBerTO CrUz “LA VerdAd”, MUrCIA, /FrAgMenT)
