         An artist of unsurpassed vision and personal integrity, Worthington’s artworks represented the United
     states of America in the 18th International Biennial in sao Paulo. Her works are in the permanent collection of
     the national Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, d.C., the U.s. state department Art in embassies
     Program, and private collections worldwide. Her artworks have been exhibited in the United states of America,
     europe, and Japan. Worthington places her images on a tightrope between comic absurdity and tragic con-
     sequence. Art historian susan Platt, comments: “In the tradition of Bosch and Bruegel, Worthington feels the
     injustices and ironies of our society. she uses her art as a vehicle for arousing our awareness of situations that
     concern her.” Worthington states: “It has been said that civilizations are recorded and remembered by their
     wars and their art. The arts act as checks and balances against the more destructive side of civilization. My
     sense of hope for the future makes me want to facilitate change through awareness for a better, more humane
     world.” description of works shown here are from the george “dubya”  series: The Crossing (below) is an
     interactive kinetic sculpture, a political parody inspired by the famous painting of george Washington Crossing
     the delaware. replacing george Washington is george “dubya” Bush asking, “What crossing, where?”   36 days
     (opposite) depicts events between election day and the date when the U.s. supreme Court finally selected the
         President. Clown Watches represent how time was manipulated. Bombs depicts Worthington’s forebo-
     ding premonition that george “dubya” Bush will take America into war.
