swedish artist Maria Bovin soffie, born in stockholm, sweden, in 1968, has lived and worked in Oslo since
1990. Besides working with art, Bovin is also a certified percussionist. As a percussionist she has been working
extensively, as a ‘moving’ musician, with dancers, often improvising music from her own impulses. Bovin’s
intention in her paintings is to “catch movement” from her own experiences and portray them with her own
personal line. The colors of her work are clear and vividly striking while her graphic works, often expressed in
black and white, or with very faint colors, show great sensitivity, and are executed with soft lines and sensitivity.
Her ‘giraffes’ are very popular and have been purchased by many companies and private clients because of
their striking visual and poetic expression. Bovin works in her own graphic studio, which is situated in nesod-
den peninsula, not far from the Oslo fjord. she is one of the artists represented by the drift galleri As, and since
2001 has exhibited in stockholm and Oslo. In March of 2003 her works were exhibited at the gaIIeri gyldenlewe,
Oslo. since 2001 she has participated in Art Addiction’s International virtual gallery.
