ANTONI kOWALSkI
Lives and works in katowice Poland
SEARCH THE ARTIST ONLINE www.antonikowalski.art.pl
This art touches upon the most important things. There are ponderings
over the mystery of existence and the spiritual nature of creation. we
find there artistic experiences similar – although far more sensuous
and material – to the state of contemplation. The author himself calls
them as such: ‘Meditations’(golden meditations, the three of us, vI,
vIII, Ix) and ‘Prayers’ (Bright prayer, on the water, family prayer...). They
reflect different places and situations, but their essence is the same
meditation or prayer (…). Craft is a great asset of the Polish artist; it
calls the best tradition of the ancient religious art into mind. The old
masters’ works have been the inspiration of this artistic output. This
craft should be maintained and developed – kowalski declares – in order
to express the spirit of the modern man. The times of vermeer, Titian
or Bosch were the times of different consciousness, but the heights
of aesthetic standards they reached might become our domain, too.
kowalski’s pictures emanate silence and harmony, charm and beauty.
However, above this universe there is some melancholy caused by
– perhaps - the fugacity of this world’s beauty. Some metaphysical
anxiety hovers there, and on pathways leading to great spiritual
adventures and to genuine art (excerpts).

The decay and dying, Antoni Kowalski’s Exhibition in 2016 Gallery (rue Des

century. With amazing delicacy and rare master technique, the artist presents
