I am inspired by cinematic composition,
living forms, ancient myth and strange
ritual. Colour is hugely important in
my work and I of ten t end to us e a
palette of soft flesh colours and pastel
hues contrasted with vivid red tones. I
employ a range of media but my work
begins primarily with drawing, from both
observation and found imagery.
The ensuing process is usually intuitive
and project specific but I frequently
return to collage and montage. I am
fascinated by film and photography and
often notice this interest in visual or
sequential narrative and character seep
into my drawing or paintings.
I plan to feed these ideas back into film
making and editing with a moving image
project planned for next year.
I have recently been experimenting with
printmaking (silk screen and etching) and
have enjoyed stretching the restrictions
these techniques place upon ideas.
My experiments have resulted in both
print series’ and a limited run of handmade
zines which I have sold at the london
Zine Symposium and at the murmurArT
Event at Selfridges. I try to invest a sense
of playfulness in all my imagery, so it
remains gestural and engaging.
