“Les Jardins“ (The gardens) is
a collection that came from the
original idea of an iron cross
bought in a house sale at my
childhood picturesque village in
St. André d’Argenteuil (québec)
where once the Scots colonized.
“Les Nonnes” (The Nuns) holds
the memory of women religious
communities in quebec. The nuns
where the creators founders of
hospital and schools. My religious
card with touches of silence and
meditation.
The works involves use of body art
paper sculpture molded as dress
or corset handmade hairpieces
ribbons recycled textiles also
metal and copper from vintage
shops and metal scrap yard
machinery from the industrial era.
The makeup differs in many
interpretation of the cross as
in “Marysa’s au Sablier“ that
reincarnates the virgin nymph
holding the breath of time.
“Simone” mesmerizing with her
glance, personifies the presence
of pure will.
The models are Canadian with
French, English, Italian, Romanian,
Scottish, Jewish, german and
Hungarian background. They are
each of them a heart in a flame
making iconic relics with objects
of the past with a contemporary
reflection on identity and spiritual
journey - the body is evergreen.
