                                                                 Paul gauguin proclaimed, ’Don’t copy nature too closely. Art is an abstraction;
                                                                 as you dream amid nature, extrapolate art from it and concentrate on what
                                                                 you will create as a result.’ Following this credo, Contemporary Finish
                                                                 painter Päivyt Niemeläinen’s abstract “emotional landscapes” are derived
                                                                 from a profound contemplative process and convey powerful sentiments.
                                                                 Possessing  a unique  artistic vision,  Ms.  Niemeläinen’s  use  of  mood-
                                                                 evocative color and eloquent design results in a mesmerizing visual poetry
                                                                 allowing her to articulate intangible sentiments and psychological themes
                                                                 to the viewer. Her chosen medium of Relief on Hardboard, painted with Oil
                                                                 and gold Leaf, lends her art an elegant luster and furthers its transcendental
                                                                 aura. Utilizing soft pastel colors, she celebrates the forces of the universe
                                                                 and her artwork is like a window to a sphere where the emotive manifests

                                                                 Mostly I paint with oil colors, do mixed media works and installations.
                                                                 Also I like to use different materials. First I graduated as a textile artist,
                                                                 then studied at Helsinki University and graduated as Master of Arts. Later
                                                                 I continued fine art studies, and developed also special methods to create
                                                                 new capability of expression.
