The “Balls”, or “spheres”, as some prefer, originated as
a Herend Porcelain exercise at the end of a residency
at the Hungarian International Ceramics Studio in 2009.

At first a question of method, but yielding unexpected
satisfaction, the balls evolved to become a series of
lost wax cast works. Alternative materials, industrial
paints and lighting, surface considerations, and ongoing
efforts with organic abstract shapes were the essence

of Taylor’s interest in the past several years.
