Always a short distance from theater, Taylor fell upon the ultraviolet (UV) stage lights and pigments when constructing
a set for the Broadway play “Guys and Dolls”. Some of these special paints can be clear or white, colorless without
the UV light. The finishes of the bright, pure hues are flat and warm on the open pupil in the dark lit space with the
proper stage lighting. Taylor used these pigments on self-lit installations, sculptures and canvas and linen before

completing the set of UV works.
