         It the old days everyone wore kimonos and zöri sandals in Japan. The kimono
         became an icon of Japanese culture. kimono and zöri have remained formal
         dress in Japan to this day. When I was a child I loved looking at the beautiful
         patterns and designs on my mother's kimono. I became so interested in
         them that I went to kimono shops and studied books of patterns from
         other cultures as well. When I looked at books of patterns from around
         the globe, I was surprised to find that the origins of every design could be
         traced back to ancient times.
         I initially thought that patterns from Africa and Europe would be totally
         different, but I noticed similarities in those patterns, as well as ones from
         Asia, the U.S.A., and South America. The designs were rooted in the religions
         and spiritual pasts of the respective cultures and regions.
         When I went to live in the U.S.A. I began to see Japan from a different, more
         universal, perspective. Although I was still aware of my Japanese identity, I
         did not know how to express it. Then the thought occurred to me that art
         and music are a universal language that transcend words.
         Since early times people from around the globe have created designs that
         express the human spirit - a spirit that is common to all of humankind - n
         everything from ordinary household items, to buildings, pictures, and even
         tools of war. I came to see that the underlying creative force in all of the
         worlds' various patterns is, which is known as “ki-Energy” in Japan.
         My paintings, collages,  sculptures  and 3D paintings,  reflect  the unique
         blending of my Japanese heritage and patterns from other cultures. I am
         excited to show how Japanese patterns and ki-Energy blend with and
         compliment the patterns of other countries. My artwork is a unique reflection
         of the age-old spirit of humankind. I create both paintings and sculpture from
         the same perspective. In the 1980's Andy Warhol commented to me that I
         had a unique sense of three - dimensional space and fascinating concepts.
         Even when I am painting, I always think about what would happen if the
         work I am to develop were in three-dimensions.
         At present, I am active in New York, LA and Japan. Throughout my art, I have
         conveyed a message of universality that is irrespective of country, race and
         religion. The concept behind my work is a blend of futuristic elements that
         reflect evolving science and machinery, and primitive elements such as life
         force and passion (energy) that reflect the more fundamental aspects of
         modern humans. Throughout the mismatch that occurs when things with
         primitive meaning occur in modern form, I have created a style that enables
         people who see my work to recollect forgotten memories. I hope that people
         will be able to enjoy this experience through my work.
