VUJKa radIVoJeVIC
1960 born in serbia
lives and works in skopje, Macedonia
Vujka radivojevic-Bojarov has a very important place in Macedonian modern art. Her circumspect and
continuous creative presence on the domestic scene has been evidenced at select and thematic, exhibitions,
art shows, and individual presentations. Her work is often represented internationally where her presence has
always had a favorable impact upon the public, bringing her compliments, positive criticism, and awards.
radivojevic-Bojarov’s creative, impulsive, intuitive, and intellectual nature espouses a deep sense and
respect for native traditional motifs, but she skillfully avoids being trapped or bound to mere equivalency to
the character of the region. Instead her images represent a nostalgic and consistent evocation of recognizable
and historic folklore iconography that she modifies and transforms as she moves from this starting point to
representation of a diametrically new space of modern sensibilities. Her works display a creative and existential
distance where the typical patterns of nostalgic overtones have vanished, and emotions and longing for the
unsurpassable, fascinating achievements in the general spiritual and material cultural heritage are preserved
as a connecting tissue. The exceptionally emotive character of her inner speech has been made an effective
instrument manifest by the phenomenological omnipotence of the line, uninterrupted, descriptively defined,
or broken and energetically inscribed as a nervure. The coordinated rhythms of associative geometrical and
underdeveloped abstract compositions are articulated in an artistic unity of cohesive harmonious accords with
an interactively balanced structure ruled by a certain order and system. (gOCe BOzUrsKI, ArT CrITIC)
