Example of the Royalty Structure: In the traditional wholesale
distributors -author relationship the author royalty arrangement
functions as follows: if a 64 page unique bibliophile art book
dated and signed by author sells for a retail price of $499, the
wholesaler traditionally requires 55% (i.e., $274.45) of the
retail price. From the remaining 45% (i.e., $224.55), the
distributors subsequently receives 60% ($134.73), and the author
earns the remaining 40% (for each book sold would be $89.82 paid
to artist). Additional charges include the shipping from printer
to artist and for creative writing.
