horizontal-vertical: When I was first browsing through the
collection of renate Polzer´s work in the last catalogue she
invited me to look them from a position turned by ninety
degrees.
What I saw was manifold broken realities, partially covered
by several layers of paint. And what amazed me most was
the fact that the works fascinatingly suggested highly
diverse realities, according to me looking at them in an
upright vertical position or lying down horizontally.
renate Polzer makes the viewers the formally elaborated
offer – in part along complete work series – to continue
and complete her work with their personal imaginations. In
the sense that these imaginations correspond to different
experiences, the works – as expressions of a form of
communication between the producer renate Polzer and
the recipients – repeatedly gain new touches of uniqueness
and distinctiveness.
