Lives and works in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands

Delving into the primal human urge to express the psychological
through the aesthetic, Elmar C. Fuchs examines the shared bond
between nature and the human experience. Profound issues
can be seen in his mysterious and splendorous paintings which
serve as reminders to the audience of the connectedness of
all humanity. Creating his compelling oeuvre of highly expres-
sive, exuberant semi- abstract works that contain an enduring
and primordial quality, his compositions spur the emotions, as
he invites us to probe the subconscious and offers a source
of visual wonderment. His powerful landscapes and vistas are
deeply psychological, illuminating the intangible forces in nature
and expressing a landscape of the mind which exists in the inner
spiritual world so that one is implored to explore that which is
abiding within one’s own entity. This gifted artist adopts imagery
as a visual metaphor to express the complexity of interior and
exterior identity as he paints anthropomorphic visions which
express one’s personal emotions and thoughts.
Fuchs figures and shadows are illusions that communicate the
true core of inter-subjective optical experience. Beautifully painted
with, color-saturated compositions that bring his surreal lands-
capes to lush, vivid life, they portray eerily provocative environ-
ments. These mysterious dreamscape compositions with moody
European skies and enigmatic figures exude a particularly quiet
emotion and assume an almost spiritual significance.
