The images I paint are intended to be a sanctuary from reality – a
refuge of simplicity and whimsy, where beauty never fades and
where magic is tangible. with this emphasis, I capture what is behind,
beneath, or beyond reality while maintaining the identifiable form.
Using the Canadian Coast as inspiration, I bend reality ever so slightly
to give light-hearted life and curiosity to the symbols that represent
the Maritime way of life. In doing so, I hope to highlight and revive
this modest and tranquil existence that is slowly vanishing from
our society. Even though my works are somewhat surreal, I am told
repeatedly that the images “still feel like home”.
