Internationally acclaimed artist, goudreau has exhibited his work in
America, in Europe and in Asia. His unique artistic touch finds its roots
in goudreau’s sensitive outlook on life and on the people he meets.
In all aspects of his life, goudreau has surrounded himself with art. As
a young man, he studied fine arts at Montreal’s Concordia University.
He furthered his studies to become an art teacher and he has been
teaching for the past 21 years. Teaching art history and creation in
his profession has allowed him to evolve as an artist. By helping his
students fashion their projects, goudreau is constantly faced with
new perspectives and original ideas. Also, teaching the great art
movements and artists brings him to question his work as a painter.
He appreciates surrounding himself with other artists who will assess
his paintings in order to further his artistic evolution.

One could qualify goudreau’s technique as crude; indeed, he seeks
a rough, unrefined finish. He works with acrylic on canvas for it
allows him to transform a painting in accordance to a moment of
inspiration. Acrylic lets him layer colours with transparency to
create an unpolished effect. The large format of his canvases offers
a greater visual impact and makes for a more compelling artwork.
goudreau feels there is a freedom of movement that would not be
present in a small size painting. He much prefers working with old
worn brushes for their ragged lines and textures. In fact, an ongoing
artistic research of his is with texture. He likes to mix acrylic medium
and modeling paste into his paint to create a more powerful effect.

As in any good construction, goudreau believes the foundation of an
artwork must be strong enough to carry its weight. He recognizes the
past’s great artists’ work and tries to incorporate their contribution
to his own art. Thus, he combines expressionism, impressionism
and abstract expressionism in one art piece. goudreau’s signature
as an artist is the portrayal of caricatured characters along with the 
