I was born in a family of
art lovers. There was a
constant stream of poets,
artists, actors, political
activists passing through
my rambling family home.
Some stayed, doing
family portraits, having
sabbaticals, writing or
simply entertaining. I was
particularly fascinated
by artists, watching
spellbound as they
painted.
My parents recognized my
interest and encouraged
me to paint. I have never
looked back since. In time,
people around me began
to warm to my talent.
very soon, local schools
and colleges began
exhibiting my work & I
went on to study fine arts
at university. At one of
the college exhibitions, my
entire collection was sold
out, much to the chagrin
of one of my art teacher,
who did not see my work
as art. Even then, my art
was non-conformist & I
learned that my art was
not for everyone which
fuelled me on. I painted all
the time. It was my release
& my entertainment.
